A Walkable Neighbourhood
No Cars Needed
The goal of the building is to create a desirable space to live in where owning a car is not a necessity. Not only will this reduce traffic congestion and lower air pollution, but it will be a more walkable and bike-friendly area than many other places in the suburbs of Victoria.
We are also committed to promoting alternative transportation modes. It will be very close to several bus routes, with the Royal Oak Exchange only 400 meters away, providing easy access to 12 bus routes that connect across Victoria. Plus the site is close to various amenities including parks, recreational services, pathways and bike lanes, schools, jobs, commercial areas and health services.
We want to enhance the liveability of our communities by reclaiming our roadways and focusing on the environmental and social aspects of the street.
We commit to the following measures:
- Each BCH and market rental unit will receive a BC Transit EcoPASS for a three-year period
- A Modo vehicle will be purchased for the property and 41 annual Modo memberships will be provided
- A shared e-bike program will be offered with 30 e-bikes available for resident use, including 23 urban style e-bikes and 7 electric cargo bikes, as well as long-term bicycle parking for each bike
- 50% of the long-term bicycle parking will include access to a 110V wall outlet, and 10% will be designated as oversized parking
- A facility for bicycle maintenance will be provided.
Road Planning & Impact
A well-designed road can balance the needs of connecting neighborhoods and preserving community values while also reducing traffic. We expect fewer cars on the road from this building than than the restaurant currently generates.
